Give Yourself a 5-step Pedicure at Home

You don't have to go to a spa for a professional pedicure — do it at home with these steps!

Nothing can make a girl feel more pampered than a day at the spa. Since a full day all to yourself might not fit into your schedule, here’s a great way to get the same effect for less — without even having to get out of your pajamas!

1. Soak
Prepare your feet by giving them a hot bath. Add a perfumed bath salt with one of your favorite scents. Close your eyes, lean back and take a deep breath. The soak soothes tired feet and transports you to a calm, relaxing place.

2. Exfoliate
If you only have a few minutes, exfoliate quickly with a pumice stone or an exfoliating cleanser. Pay close attention to the heel and the base of the big toe.

If you have more time, dry your feet and then remove all the roughness using a file or a callus shaver.

3. Nails
Maintain the length of your nails with a nail clipper and file them if you’re a fan of rounded tips. Remember: always file in the same direction, as back-and-forth movements can damage nails.

Once you have finished filing, remove small spots and other traces present on nails using a nail buffer.

4. Moisturize
Apply a good moisturizer to the base of your foot, especially on the driest parts. For the best results, moisturize before going to bed and put cotton socks on immediately after you apply the cream. They will hold the moisture all night.

5. Finishing Touch
The finishing touch is obviously a lovely shiny coat of polish. Choose a shade you like. And plan enough drying time. Since you’re at home, it’s less complicated than getting it done at a spa. No need to drive home in flip-flops!
